Born and raised in California. Resident of the Fresno High area since 1988.
Received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, and a J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
First in my family to graduate from college with a bachelor's degree.

Employed for the past twenty years as Lead Appellate Court Attorney by the Fifth District Court of Appeal. Prior to my employment at the court, I worked for five years in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trustee.
Re-elected to the Fresno Unified School Board in November 2012 with more than 60% of the votes.
Fresno County Trustees Association. President for 2016 and 2011, current member of the Board of Directors. Members are elected to the Board and Officer positions by all the trustees of school districts in Fresno County, including State Center and West Hills Community College districts.
California School Board Association - Delegate. Statewide Nominating Committee Chair in 2015.
Chief Jerry Dyer's Advisory Board (CAB). Appointed initially by then Council Member Henry T. Perea; re-appointed by Council Member Clint Olivier. The CAB meets regularly and members bring safety issues of concern in their neighborhoods to the attention of the Chief and his staff and provide input and feedback on police department policies and practices.
Fresno High Neighborhood Association. Actively assists the neighborhood association with its annual Holiday Home Tour. Proceeds benefit students of Fresno High.
North Fresno Exchange Club member and chair of the student recognition committee. The NFEC hosts a monthly meeting honoring outstanding male students from each of FUSD's high schools and San Joaquin Memorial (another club does the girls). In addition, we recognize outstanding male and female students in the arts and JROTC cadets, as well as students from our high schools who have overcome significant challenges.
Judge Pro Tem for the Fresno Superior Court 1995 - 2005.

Awarded Masters in Governance from the California School Boards Association.
Choosing Our Future Operational Task Force member, 2005-2007.
Served on several Fresno Unified committees as a community member, prior to election to the Board, including Facilities Strategic Planning (Co-Chair), the Pre-Bond Committee, and the Extended Day Advisory Committee (Chair).
Served as Chair of the School Site Council at my son's elementary school.
Assisted Fresno High with establishing their International Baccalaureate program and served on the Fresno High Task Force.
Served on the Hamilton Task Force working to open the school as a K-8 and improve our neighborhood school.
